Counselling Cell and Counselling of Students and Extra Curricular Activities

  • To counsel students through individual counselling sessions based on their needs.
  • To enhance self-esteem of weaker /slow learners / physically challenged students.
  • To help the students to overcome examination stress, anxiety or phobia.
  • To recommend and refer to Clinical Psychologist or Professional Psychiatrist in case of any advance support required considering the severity.
  • To inform the parents about psychological misbehavior of the student.
  • To help the students in solving their personal, educational, social as well as psychological problems.
  • To assist the student in planning for educational and vocational choices.
  • To help the students know themselves regarding their interests, abilities, aptitude, passion and opportunities.
  • To create awareness, prepare and motivate to create success stories and decipher plans to overcome life challenges
  • To establish a feeling of mutual understanding between student and teacher.
  • To conduct training program on counselling skills for faculty and staff.
  • To organize workshops in the area of:-

  • Stress Management.
  • Emotional Intelligence.
  • Relaxation Techniques.
  • Emotional First Aid

Objectives:

  • To support the nation in achieving SDG 3 - To ensure health and well-being.
  • To facilitate psychological well-being of the students through continuous support and guidance based on their needs.
  • To abet students in staying away from detrimental thoughts and healing their minor emotional hurts.
  • To support the students to understand and accept themselves “as they are”, through individual and group counselling.
  • To empower the students in recognizing their unique potentials and skills to achieve their academic goals, social and personality development, adjustment issues, career goals,
  • To encourage listening skills, developing empathy and interpersonal skills to enrich healthy relationship.
  • To educate on various psychological topics and healthy lifestyle practices through psycho- education programs.
  • To maintain confidentiality of counselling interventions unless the student is considered to be at-risk for personal injury, or for committing injury to self or others. In those instances, appropriate individuals/agencies can be notified.
  • To support other committees /cells / clubs whenever required.

A committee in the name “Counselling of Students and Extra Curricular Activities” was constituted to execute the function and accomplish the goals of Counselling Cell.

The committee can possess the support of NSS, YRC, NCC, Yoga club, Rotract club and other extension activity clubs / cells / committees to enhance mental wellbeing of the students and faculty.
