The inception of the Department of History at KCW dates back to 1968, marking the commencement of its academic journey. In 1980, it progressed into a Postgraduate Programme and further evolved into a research Department in 2014. The curriculum of the History Department explores the dynamics of change and continuity, delving into various aspects such as human evolution, cultural shifts, political transformations, gender roles, and environmental influences. The comprehensive study encompasses both Indian History and the histories of global regions, spanning diverse geographical areas and historical periods. This inclusive approach provides a holistic perspective on human civilizations and their development.
Additionally, the department offers a Job Oriented Course (JOC) focusing on 'Civil Service Coaching' and an Add-on course in 'Tourism and Travel Management.' These courses aim to enhance students' competency skills, preparing them for a range of competitive examinations, including those conducted by the Union Public Service Commission, State Public Service Commission, and UGC-NTA-NET/SET Examinations.
