The GRG ELGi Innovation DOJO at KCW campus was established in September 2022 with the support of ELGi Equipments Private Limited, Coimbatore with the objective of enhancing industry-oriented skill development among student communities through hands-on training and real-time problem-solving experiences. The primary goal was to provide students with practical, industry-relevant exposure through structured internship programs facilitated by DOJO, a specialized industry-focused training initiative.
Key Contributions
- The ELGi Dojo Centre has played a pivotal role in enabling students to work on real-world industrial problems aligned with ELGi’s operational objectives through the systematic application of the Agile Scrum methodology. As of December 2025, 432 students have actively contributed to nearly 220 industry use cases, showcasing effective collaboration, strong domain understanding, and practical adoption of agile practices.
- The Dojo Centre has ensured technological diversity and industry relevance by exposing students to contemporary tools and platforms such as Power BI, DevOps, Power Apps, Power Automate, Verge3D, AR/VR, AI-powered dashboards, AI chatbots, and Large Language Models (LLMs). This exposure enabled students to design and develop web-based and mobile-based applications, interactive dashboards, intelligent chatbot systems, and AR/VR applications, including solutions utilizing Google Maps rotation.
- A significant contribution of the Dojo Centre is the promotion of cross-disciplinary collaboration, where students from Computational Sciences, MBA, BBA (BPM), Data Analytics, and related programs work together in real-time project teams. This multidisciplinary approach reflects professional industry environments and strengthens communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- By simulating real industrial settings, students engage directly with live problem statements from partner organizations such as ELGi Equipments, working within agile frameworks that mirror professional workflows. In addition, the Dojo Centre organizes industry-integrated workshops, panel discussions, and faculty development programs, providing practical insights that extend learning beyond traditional academic boundaries and strengthen industry readiness.
Impact
- The GRG ELGi Innovation DOJO at KCW has significantly strengthened industry–academia collaboration by providing students with internship-oriented, industry use-case–based learning. This initiative effectively bridges the gap between academic knowledge and real-world industrial requirements.
- Through hands-on engagement with real industrial problems, students develop strong problem-solving ability, analytical thinking, and teamwork. The learning environment also creates awareness of Agile frameworks, including participation in Scrum meetings, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives, enabling students to understand modern project execution methodologies followed in industry.
- The centre promotes automation-oriented thinking, encouraging students to design and implement automated solutions for industrial workflows. Students gain valuable exposure to industry-standard communication and documentation practices, such as requirement gathering, use-case documentation, progress reporting, and professional presentations, which enhances their workplace readiness.
- A unique strength of the Dojo Centre is the comprehensive exposure provided to the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and related tools. This equips students with in-demand low-code development skills aligned with current enterprise needs.
- Overall, the ELGi Dojo Centre fosters self-confidence, a strong work ethic, and professional discipline among students. By combining technical competence with agile practices, automation skills, and effective communication, the centre plays a transformative role in producing industry-ready graduates.
