About The Department
The Department of Chemistry established in 1963, is today a recognized research
centre with MPhil and PhD programmes, in addition to UG, PG degree programmes. Under the able guidance of the dedicated faculty, the students have shown remarkable achievements in curricular and co-curricular activities. Existence of strong interaction with industries with a good placement record. Guest lectures, video conferencing, community oriented programmes, workshops, conferences and seminars (National /International) are organized to create a scientific temper amidst the students and young teachers motivating them to scale up in research. The Chemistry Department pledges itself to serve in the broadest, innovative and most liberal manner towards the advancement of chemistry in all of its branches through academics, research and service missions upholding the values and entrepreneurial skills.
To provide conducive environment for learning among faculty and students to excel in
teaching learning using modern pedagogy, to promote need based and Interdisciplinary
research to International standards, encourage industry – institute linkage thereby
promoting entrepreneurship and placement, to attract International students and to serve
The department of chemistry strives to create and maintain an environment for students
and faculty to advance their understanding of chemistry by
- Providing a dynamic and rigorous curricular offering interrelated courses in a
variety of sub disciplines that promotes flexibility and access to a wide variety of
- Cultivating and maintaining an environmental conducive for the faculty to develop
and grow as teacher- scholar.
- Establishing connections among broader scientific and educational communities
as both recipients and disseminators of scientific knowledge.
- Enhancing entrepreneurial skills of students to initiate their own start-ups.
- Perceive, investigate and solve societal problems by appropriate quantitative and
qualitative research methods
