Regional Centre in Geriatric Care

About the Regional Centre in Geriatric Care

Regional Centre in Geriatric Care was established in the year 2008 and recognized as a collaborative agency by National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), New Delhi an autonomous body under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The Regional Centre in Geriatric Care conducts various Programmes such as Awareness Programmes, sensitization Programmes and short term courses in Geriatric Care so as to help to improve the quality of life of elderly.

Vision

To augment the delivery of care to the elderly by developing trained personnel of Geriatric Care givers, awareness to the younger generation and senior citizen for the holistic empowerment and to optimizing capabilities of service providers to improve the quality of life of elderly.

Mission

To develop and facilitate comprehensive, effective and specialized interventions in the field of aged care.

Objectives:

  • To develop a cadre of professionals in geriatric care to provide quality life in old age
  • To provide a comprehensive knowledge on basic issues of geriatric care
  • To provide training to informal caregivers in family and in community
  • To ensure supportive environment to elders in the community
  • To enhance the counseling skills of functionaries working with old age
  • To sensitize the youth, parents and elders to bridge the inter-generational gap
  • To create awareness among elders about the health issues of senior citizens
  • To provide basic knowledge of computers to senior citizens to utilize their leisure time productively
