About the Department

The Department has constantly shown progress for the benefit of students. It highlights the overall development of a student through various extracurricular and co-curricular activities.

The Department also conducts foundation courses which help them to develop their personality, communication, leadership quality, interpersonal relationships, etc.

The Department organizes intercollegiate and interdepartmental computer events which help students gain knowledge and develop a spirit of involvement and participation.

Job Oriented Courses (JOC) and Advanced Learner Courses (ALC) are included to make the students excel in the globalized concept of education.

The Final year UG students are taken for Industrial Visit every year to gain knowledge about the working environment of the industry.

The Department has well equipped state-of-the-art computer labs and spacious classrooms which enable a healthy teaching-learning process. The Alumni of the department are well placed.

Highlights

Dr. S. Krishna Kumar from DRDO, Chennai-Inaugurated the National conference & gave a lecture on “Communication with Aliens”.
Mr. N. Balakichenane from Praracana Software Solution, Australia inaugurated the International seminar “Innovations in Computer Technology”.
Video conferences are organized on recent technologies like remote sensing through cloud, DB2 and Big data.
Staff actively participate in Hands-on workshops to keep abreast of recent technologies.
Every year the Department organizes National/International Level Seminar/Conference providing opportunities to students to gain knowledge and expertise.
Quality is enhanced with training, workshop, participation and presenting papers at national and international seminars and conferences.
Lovely Rose from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore gave a lecture on “Data mining”.
Video conference is organized on Cloud Computing by Mr. Philip Clements Samuel raj Senior Associate, CTS, North Carolina, and the USA.
Mr. Thiagarajan Balasubramanian Assistant Registrar, Central University of Tamilnadu, Thiruvarur- Inaugurated & gave a lecture on “Bioinformatics”.
Mr.Kalidasan Senoir Software Manager, Payoda Technologies, Coimbatore gave a lecture on “Software Project Management”.

Job opportunities are available across various domains like Web Technologies, Grid Computing, Networks, Cloud computing, Data mining etc.,
On the successful completion of the course, the Students are employable in reputed software industries.
Students get job opportunities in the fields of web-oriented applications, animations, software development banking Sectors and teaching fields.
Some of the recruiters are Cognizant Technologies, IBM, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys

Research Activities:

Faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. in different areas like DataMining, Computer Networks, Image Processing and Biometrics.
