PSGR Krishnammal College for Women established ‘Rural Women Technology Park’ (RWTP) at a village called Pillaiappampalayam in Annur Taluk, Coimbatore in the year 2015. The project was funded by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi. A total of Rs 53 lakhs has been received by the institution under this project. The primary objective of the project is to empower women in rural areas through technology transfer and entrepreneurship. The project aims to improve the livelihood and quality of life of rural women by imparting necessary entrepreneurial skills through the demonstration of feasible projects and transfer of proven technologies. Under this scheme, several potential women entrepreneurs have been identified, mentored, and hand-held to start, run, and manage self-help groups, individual/group micro-enterprise, and family micro-business in different trades. Till date, over 4500 rural women have benefitted out of this noble initiative.
